ManyChat vs InstantDM 2026: price, limits and features
ManyChat bills by the people you talk to. InstantDM bills a flat price with no per-contact fees and caps how many automations run an hour. Both put one Instagram account on their single-account plans.
The short answer
ManyChat is the bigger platform: 7 channels, a flow builder, AI replies from Pro and many integrations, billed by active contacts, from $17 a month for 250 contacts. InstantDM is built for Instagram and Facebook, with no per-contact fees: Legend Pro is $12 a month for up to 800 automations an hour. InstantDM has an MCP server that sends DMs and publishes Instagram posts; we found none for ManyChat. Postkey is the third option: comment to DM, a scheduler for 21 networks and an agent that builds the automations.

How each one bills
ManyChat counts people, not messages: "It doesn't matter how many messages you exchange. One person = one Active Contact for the month." Past your plan's contacts, "If you go over it, your automations don't suddenly shut off, we'll just charge a small overage fee for each additional Active Contact." The overage per extra contact runs from $0.10 on Essential down to $0.004 on Advanced, and you can set a threshold.
InstantDM caps the pace, not the month, on its single-account plans: "There is no monthly automation cap on the paid single-account plans." Legend Pro runs up to 800 automations an hour, Trendsetter up to 2,000, and Trendsetter Pro has no hourly limit on the pricing page.
The multi-account plans work the other way: Multi Starter (3 accounts) and Multi Pro (10 accounts) give each account a monthly allowance of 30,000 and 300,000 automations.
Through InstantDM's MCP server, reading is free and each DM sent or post published costs a credit, the same as an automation.
So a post that goes viral costs the same on InstantDM, as long as it fits the hourly pace. On ManyChat every new person is another active contact.

InstantDM's ManyChat numbers, checked
InstantDM's ManyChat page lists ManyChat's plans as Essential $14, Pro $29, Business $69, Advanced $139 a month. Those are ManyChat's yearly-billing prices. On monthly billing ManyChat's pricing page shows $17, $39, $99, $199.
The same page calls InstantDM's pace cap 750 DMs an hour; its own pricing page says up to 800 automations an hour on Legend Pro. It also says the AI agent has no plan gate, while the pricing page lists the AI agent step from Trendsetter, run on your own OpenAI, Claude, Gemini or DeepSeek key.

What it costs for your setup
The cheapest plan for each number of Instagram accounts on monthly billing, before extra usage. ManyChat needs one subscription per Instagram account: "If you want to manage multiple accounts for the same channel type, such as two Instagram accounts, you'll need to create a separate Manychat account for each. Note that each Manychat account has its own settings and billing."
