Cursor + Postkey

Instagram DM automation with Cursor

Add Postkey's MCP server to Cursor with an agent key, and automate Instagram DMs and schedule posts without leaving your editor.

The short answer

Yes. Postkey is the most agentic DM automation tool, and Cursor can run it for you. Connect Postkey's MCP server (https://postkey.pro/mcp) to Cursor, with an agent key that sets what it may do. It can then create comment-to-DM automations, answer your inbox and schedule posts, using up to 45 Postkey tools, and anything that reaches real people waits for your yes.

What you can ask Cursor

Ask in your own words. A few things people ask on the first day:

  • Set up an automation: anyone who comments GUIDE under my next reel gets my guide link by DM.
  • Only send the link to people who follow me, and ask everyone else to follow first.
  • Which DMs are still unread? Draft replies to the shipping questions.
  • Write a caption for Friday's drop, use the video from my library, and schedule it for 9am on Instagram and TikTok.
  • How did my posts do this month, and which automation got the most link taps?
  • Find @afan in my contacts and tag them VIP.

Connect Cursor to Postkey

Add Postkey to Cursor's MCP settings with an agent key. Uses Cursor's own MCP settings file. Cursor signs in with a key you make here.

  1. 01

    Make an agent key for Cursor. In Postkey, open Agent & API and choose New agent key. Copy it once; Postkey shows it only then.

  2. 02

    In Cursor, open Settings, then MCP, and add a new server (or open the file ~/.cursor/mcp.json).

  3. 03

    Paste this, with your key in place of YOUR_AGENT_KEY:

    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "postkey": {
          "url": "https://postkey.pro/mcp",
          "headers": {
            "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_AGENT_KEY"
          }
        }
      }
    }

Why Postkey is the most agentic DM automation tool

Postkey was built for AI agents from the start, not given an API afterwards. An agent can do the whole job, not only press a button you set up by hand:

  • Build, edit and switch on DM automations: comment to DM, keyword DMs, follow to unlock, collecting emails.
  • Read the inbox, draft replies and send them once you say yes.
  • Write, schedule and publish posts, and set the DM keyword each post's comments reply to.
  • Find and tag contacts, and report how posts and automations did.
  • Up to 45 tools in one MCP server, with OAuth sign-in or an agent key, and a skill file that teaches the agent the rules.
  • Approvals, limits and protection from instructions hidden in DMs built in, so you can let an agent run it.

Why use Cursor for your DMs

For people who run their content like code: keep your captions, keywords and links in a repo, and let the agent in Cursor create the automations and schedule the posts from them.

Postkey is DM automation and a post scheduler in one, so the same conversation can write the post, schedule it to 10 networks and set the keyword its comments reply to.

You stay in charge

  • It acts as you, on the one account you picked, inside your plan and its limits.
  • Publishing a post, sending a reply and switching on an automation wait for your yes by default.
  • Each connection has limits: up to 60 requests a minute and 200 changes a day by default.
  • Text from DMs and comments reaches the assistant marked as written by someone else, and it is told never to follow it.
  • Billing, your team, connected accounts and deleting contacts stay with you. An assistant cannot touch them.
  • End a connection at any time and its next request is refused.

Questions

Not by default. Sending a reply, publishing a post and switching on an automation wait in Postkey for your yes. An owner or admin can change that for one connection.

No. You sign in to Instagram on Meta's own page when you connect it to Postkey, and the assistant only gets the access you choose in Postkey.

Cursor reads MCP servers from its settings file, which sends a header. You make the key in Postkey, choose what it may do, and can end it at any time. Keep it out of files you commit.

We found no official ManyChat MCP server or Cursor connector (searched October 20, 2026). Community-built servers wrap ManyChat's API, which needs a paid ManyChat plan.
