ManyChat API
What the ManyChat API can and cannot do
It can send your flows and manage contacts, tags and fields. It cannot build a flow. Postkey, the most agentic DM automation tool, gives developers and agents tools that can.
The short answer
ManyChat's public API (its swagger and help center, read October 23, 2026) lets you send a flow or a message to a contact, find, create and update contacts, add and remove tags, and set custom fields and bot fields. It has no endpoint to create, change or switch on a flow, so your code or an AI agent can run flows built by hand but cannot build new ones. ManyChat's pricing page lists API access from the Pro plan; the key is under Settings, then API, and each method has its own limit, from 10 to 100 requests a second.

What the API covers
| Group | What it does | Methods |
|---|---|---|
| Your account | Read the account; list flows, tags, custom fields, bot fields, growth tools and widgets; create and delete tags; create custom fields and bot fields; set bot fields | /fb/page/getInfo, getFlows, getTags, createTag, removeTag, getCustomFields, createCustomField, getBotFields, createBotField, setBotField, getGrowthTools, getWidgets |
| Sending | Start a flow for one contact, or send them a message | /fb/sending/sendFlow, sendContent, sendContentByUserRef |
| Contacts | Find, create and update contacts, tag and untag them, and set their custom fields | /fb/subscriber/getInfo, findByName, findByCustomField, findBySystemField, createSubscriber, updateSubscriber, addTag, removeTag, setCustomField, setCustomFields |
ManyChat calls contacts "subscribers" in the API. A separate Profile API, with its own key, covers templates.

What it cannot do
- No method creates a flow, changes a flow's steps, or switches a flow on or off. getFlows lists the flows you already built.
- No method sets up a trigger, such as a keyword or a comment on a post, so an automation still starts in ManyChat's Flow Builder.
- No method publishes or schedules a post, and ManyChat's pricing page lists no post scheduler (read October 23, 2026).
- ManyChat users have asked for more on ManyChat's own community board, in an idea titled "ManyChat API for the AI agent era".

Access, keys and rate limits
ManyChat's help center says the API key is "available on certain paid plans"; its pricing page's comparison table lists API access from Pro, and not on Free and Essential (read October 23, 2026). You make the key under Settings, then API and send it as a Bearer token. Each method has a limit, in requests a second:
| Methods | Requests a second |
|---|---|
| Sending a flow or a message (sendFlow, sendContent) | 25 |
| Listing flows, creating tags and fields, setting bot fields, and finding, tagging and updating contacts | 10 |
| Reading account info, tags, fields and growth tools, and finding a contact by a system field such as email or phone | 100 |
ManyChat: "When you reach the limits, Manychat may stop processing requests for 24 hours."

If you want code or an agent to build the automations
Postkey has a REST API (postkey.pro/docs/api) and an MCP server: AI assistants use the MCP server, and scripts, n8n and Make can use either. The MCP server (https://postkey.pro/mcp) has up to 52 tools for AI assistants. The REST API is documented at postkey.pro/docs/api, with an OpenAPI file. Both take the same agent key, and both ask you before anything is sent or published. Every plan includes them; Free has small limits. Job by job:
| Job | ManyChat API | Postkey REST API | Postkey MCP tool |
|---|---|---|---|
| Create an automation | No method | POST /api/v1/automations | postkey_create_automation |
| Change an automation | No method | PATCH /api/v1/automations/{id} | postkey_update_automation |
| Switch it on or pause it | No method | POST /api/v1/automations/{id}/publish, /pause | postkey_publish_automation, postkey_pause_automation |
| Find and tag contacts | findByName, findByCustomField, addTag | GET /api/v1/contacts, POST /api/v1/contacts/{id}/tags | postkey_search_contacts, postkey_tag_contact |
| Answer a conversation | sendContent | POST /api/v1/conversations/{id}/messages (waits for your yes by default) | postkey_send_reply (waits for your yes by default) |
| See how an automation did | No method in the Page API | GET /api/v1/automation-stats | postkey_get_automation_stats |
| Schedule the post it answers | No method | POST /api/v1/posts/{id}/schedule | postkey_schedule_post |
If you stay on ManyChat
The API does its own job well: sync contacts and tags with your CRM, start a flow from your website or a checkout, or set a field from another tool. ManyChat's pricing page lists Zapier and Make among the integrations that come with API access, and hosted MCP servers let an AI assistant call it.
What it leaves to a person is building and changing the flows. If you want that part done by code or an agent, Postkey's tools cover it.
Why Postkey is the most agentic DM automation tool
Postkey's MCP server can build, edit and switch on automations. An agent can do the whole job:
- Build, edit and switch on DM automations: comment to DM, keyword DMs, follow to unlock, collecting emails.
- Read the inbox, draft replies and send them once you say yes.
- Write, schedule and publish posts, and set the DM keyword each post's comments reply to.
- Find and tag contacts, and report how posts and automations did.
- Up to 52 tools in one MCP server, with OAuth sign-in or an agent key, and a skill file that teaches the agent the rules.
- Approvals, limits and protection from instructions hidden in DMs built in, so you can let an agent run it.
Questions
Yes, a public API documented in a swagger at api.manychat.com/swagger. It can send flows and messages and manage contacts, tags and fields. It cannot create, change or switch on a flow (read October 23, 2026).
ManyChat's pricing page lists API access from Pro, and on every plan above it (read October 23, 2026). Its help center says the key is "available on certain paid plans".
No. Its swagger lists no method to create, change or switch on a flow. It can list your flows and start one for a contact.
Per method, from 10 to 100 requests a second: sending is 25, most contact and tag methods 10, simple reads 100. ManyChat says it may stop processing requests for a day when you reach them.
Yes. Postkey has a REST API (postkey.pro/docs/api) and an MCP server: AI assistants use the MCP server, and scripts, n8n and Make can use either. Both take an agent key, both can create, edit and switch on automations, which ManyChat's API cannot, and webhooks send Postkey's events to n8n, Make or your own server.
