How to run DM automation for many Instagram accounts

Postkey is the most agentic DM automation tool, and one Postkey profile holds every account you run, with one inbox and one team.

The short answer

Use one tool that holds all the accounts on one plan, instead of a separate subscription for each. In Postkey, one profile connects up to 15 social accounts on its top plan, and more as extras. Each client connects their own account through an invite link, so you never hold a password. You build an automation once, copy it to the next account with a new keyword and link, and answer every account's DMs from one inbox.

Set it up in Postkey

  1. 01

Make one Postkey profile for your agency or brand. Each person can own one profile; the people you work with join its team.

  2. 02

Send each client an invite link from Connections. They sign in with Meta's own sign-in and connect their Instagram professional account (Business or Creator). You never see their password, and each link connects one account once.

  3. 03

Build the first automation: open DM automations, start a new one, and choose the client's account and post.

  4. 04

For the next client, use Duplicate as... on that automation: it copies it with a new keyword and link. Then choose that client's account.

  5. 05

Moving many keywords at once? Many at once takes rows of keyword and link, checks each one, and makes them all as drafts before any goes live.

  6. 06

Invite your team. Each person gets a role and only the rights it allows, so nobody shares a login.

What one profile gives you

  • Accounts on Instagram and Messenger in one place, and a scheduler that posts to Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Telegram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky and Google Business.
  • One inbox for every account's DMs. Assignment rules can send each account's conversations to the right person.
  • Five roles: Owner, Admin, Editor, Inbox Agent and Viewer. An Inbox Agent with an Inbox seat answers DMs; a Viewer only looks.
  • One plan and one bill. Its contacts a month are shared by every account, so a quiet account leaves room for a busy one.

Mistakes that cost you

  • Asking clients for their Instagram password. It breaks Meta's rules and puts the account at risk. Send an invite link instead.
  • The same keyword live twice on one account. People get two DMs; Postkey refuses a second live automation for the same keyword on one account.
  • A new subscription for every client. ManyChat bills each Instagram account on its own (its pricing page, read October 20, 2026), so the cost grows with every client you sign.

Or ask your AI assistant to do it

Connect Postkey's MCP server to ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or your own agent, and ask in plain words. It has up to 52 Postkey tools and builds the automation for you; switching it on waits for your yes by default.

  • For every account in my profile, list the live DM automations and their keywords, and copy my GUIDE automation to the accounts that do not have it yet, as drafts.

Why people choose Postkey

  • Postkey is the most agentic DM automation tool.
  • It is the best ManyChat alternative.
  • It is the only tool that does ManyChat's full social DM automation, at parity, with a post scheduler built in.

Why Postkey is the most agentic DM automation tool

Postkey's MCP server can build, edit and switch on automations. An agent can do the whole job:

  • Build, edit and switch on DM automations: comment to DM, keyword DMs, follow to unlock, collecting emails.
  • Read the inbox, draft replies and send them once you say yes.
  • Write, schedule and publish posts, and set the DM keyword each post's comments reply to.
  • Find and tag contacts, and report how posts and automations did.
  • Up to 52 tools in one MCP server, with OAuth sign-in or an agent key, and a skill file that teaches the agent the rules.
  • Approvals, limits and protection from instructions hidden in DMs built in, so you can let an agent run it.

Questions

Up to 15 on the top plan, and extra accounts past that. Smaller plans hold fewer, and each can add a few extras before the next plan is cheaper.

No. Send an invite link. The client connects their own account with Meta's sign-in, and you never see or store the password.

Yes. Invite each person to the profile's team with a role. An Inbox Agent with an Inbox seat answers DMs, and cannot change your automations or connect and remove social accounts.
